This is the last of the Christmas Cake pops I made this year. The little teddy bear, a classic for Christmas.
I decided to go basic and just do the head. You could also do a full bear, which would require of course more work and precision. The basic teddy head is fairly simply.
What you will need:
– favourite cake baked
– frosting
– chocolate & black candy melts
– lollipop sticks
– mold, if you have one
– no mold: brown or dark coloured M&Ms or Smarties
– cake pop holder
– brush
– bowl
If you do not have a mold, and most people won’t have one, you will need the M&Ms or Smarties. Start with mixing the crumbled cake with frosting, then make a ball. Before you put them in the freezer for the first time, dip two Smarties/M&Ms into melded chocolate and stick them in the ball to make the ears. The place them into the freezer for 10 to 15 min. If you have mold like this, use it. 😉
Remove from the freezer and melt more chocolate. Dip the lollipop stick into the chocolate and then stick it into the ball. Place into the fridge for 10 to 15 min. Remove a couple a time and dip them in the melted chocolate, slightly shaking the excess of. Place each into the cake pop holder or Styrofoam board to let them cool.
Once they are dry it’s time to add the details. Use a small brush to paint on the face, nose and mouth as well as ear details. A edible pen would not quite work unless you have very light brown chocolate.
Happy Baking!
