Freshly Pressed – I wish

Posted on

The current “Freshly Pressed” list.

The first thing you will notice when going to WordPress is their front page with the “Freshly Pressed” blogs. At first, I didn’t quite understood this but thought it was nice. Several topics are always presented, like travel, food, books, movies etc. It’s interesting to see what is out there, what people write about and what moves them. This was before I had my own WordPress account.

Saskatoon’s First Food, Fork & Foodie Event

When I started with the whole food blogging I obviously looked around to see what’s out there. Well, you might already know this but there are tons and tons of food bloggers online and they all have their different styles and stories to them. I am not sure where exactly I found it but along the way I saw the Food Bloggers of Canada, which gives you interesting insights into food blogs but also a list of food bloggers in each province & territory. As of today there are 6 food bloggers in Saskatchewan, that’s a not a much compared to BC or Ontario. One of the other food bloggers is BS’ in the Kitchen and so the Foodie Event was born.

Easter Giveaway: And the Winner is…

The Prize: Wilton Easter/Spring Cookie Cutter Sets

Over the last week this blog had a Easter Giveaway. It was nothing major big like a KitchenAid mixer (I wish) but for the beginning it was something. Two sets of Wilton Easter themed cookie cutters were up to be won. All you had to do was leave a comment underneath the post, telling me what your favourite Easter treat was. You had and additional chance if you liked the Baking in Saskatoon Facebook page.

The week is over and the results are in and there were 22 comments. Thank you! This means a lot to me.

As previously said, Random.org will select a winner.

And the Winner is: #7 Lene

Please contact me via Email to claim your prize withing the next 48 hours. Should the winner failed to do so, another winner will be picked by Random.org.

Thank you, again, to everyone who left a comment. It was nice to see what people like for Easter. I am a total chocolate lover and so chocolate eggs, preferably filled with something (like nougat cream) will send me to heaven. Especially these ones are what I am looking forward to in my Easter Basket.

Very lecker, I mean, delicious. Via

Easter Giveaway

I am so excited…

Spring and Easter cookies.

First of all, my Facebook page (have a look here) has over 50 Likes. *awww* I barely can contain my excitement. I know that compared to other pages it’s rather low. But considering I didn’t start this too long ago it’s big news for me and it also means I hit a personal landmark. A while back I was thinking I should do something for my 50th Like and well, here we are.

Royal Icing is something I need to work on.

So, I am very excited to announce the First Baking in Saskatoon Giveaway. There were several options I had in my mind and some of them were nice but not really useful for a giveaway. Especially since I am going to make this internationally. Yes, you read that right. If you are from the other side of the world you are eligible to win. (I find it a bit frustrating when you see nice giveaways online but you can’t enter because it’s only for US residents. That’s annoying when you are from Europe but plain frustrating when you are sitting the neighbouring country.)

So cute.

Keep in mind, this is my first giveaway and I am, by no means, one of those big blogs that get nice big stuff from big companies.

This is an Easter Giveway and you can win these two lovely sets of Wilton Easter Cookie Cutters. The winner will receive two sets of 3 cutters each, e.g. you end up with six cookie cutters.

The Prize!

Rules:

– The contest will run from Sunday, March 11th, 2012 until Sunday, March 18th, 2012.

– The contest is open internationally and is not restricted to any country
– You must leave ONE comment underneath this post, telling me what you favourite Easter treat is
– You have a second chance of winning if you “like” my Facebook page and leave a separate comment here that you do
– The winner will be drawn at random by Random.org
– The winner will be announced on Monday, March 19th, 2012 on this blog
– The winner has 48 hours to contact me, if s/he fails to do so, another winner will be picked by Random.org
– Baking in Saskatoon is not responsible for lost mail

Disclaimer: Both cookie cutter sets where purchased by me and not provided by Wilton. I was not paid by Wilton for advertising for them or any sort of thing.

Good luck to all and thanks for stopping by!

Thank you

Here comes a short intermission into the Christmas Cookie bake off, which has been going on since last Saturday and is quite a success I would say.

I started this blog in May of this year and I already got over 1000 views, which means not just my friends check this page but also their friends and complete strangers. But of course mainly friends and family looked at my recipes in the beginning. My sister-in-law Jennifer was also the first one to leave a comment. Thank you Jenn, that was thoughtful of you.

The first comment from someone I didn’t know was by A Hint of Garlic, who are a couple from the UK. I don’t really follow their blog which has something to do with the way the Follow Blog thing is set up here at WordPress. I should try to do that though. So thank you to A hint of garlic to leave a comment, maybe they tried to make the Hazelnut Chocolate Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing.

Next I would like to thank Jennifer from Jennifer Screams and the girl from Savory Simple. Both liked my post about the Cinnamon Buns and where the first ones to like a post.

The last thank you goes to Indya from Indyasquarepants, who was the first to re-blog on of my posts. Thank you Indya, I feel very honoured that you re-blogged me.

Of course a big thanks to the family and friends who read this too. Please recommend the blog to others, I might have the recipe they are looking for. Also a big thanks to those random people who step by: analogeejumi, Lesley Carter, and Happiness Stan who liked the post about Photography – Light; and A Cornishman Cooks, as well as Nissi, who both liked the Coconut Cookies.

I wish everyone a good day. Happy Thanksgiving to those in the States. Happy Thursday to everyone else.

Love, Andrea
