Noodle Salad German Style

German noodle salad

Last weekend it was once again time to provide some food for two potlucks. This is always a nice opportunity to make something I haven’t done before. On the other hand it also poses a problem because you never know if someone else will make the same thing. Another question is: main dish or dessert? I like dessert a lot (I am sure you know that by now) but people here tend to bring a lot of dessert. Then it can get a bit problematic if there are not enough main dishes.

Lentil Soup

It tastes like home.

Maybe I should rename this month and call it the January Soup month. It seems I am cooking more soup than I am baking bread. I shall attempt to make more bread or buns, but for now, lets stick with this soup. It’s another one of my favourites, I guess that’s what I made it last weekend for the family. Sushi Tutorial

Sushi, part of a Bento box.

The other day I posted on Facebook that I cooked Sushi rice and one of my friends asked me if I could teach her how to make Sushi. Since I wanted to make Sushi that night I decided to make a tutorial for all to see and share. Making Sushi is not that difficult, you will need some “helpers” of course but once you have them, or even substituted them it will be easy to make. However, plan to spend some time on it: cutting, preparing, cooking some ingredients will take some time. But you will love the result and your creativity knows no boundaries.

German Schnitzel

Again, yummy food.

When it comes to meat, Germans are quite versatile, at least that what’s I like to believe. One of the finest ways is to make Schnitzel. It is basically to fry the meat. The original Wiener Schnitzel, Vienna Schnitzel, uses veal. I am not too big a fan of it, I rather prefer the pork version. I believe that you can also make chicken Schnitzel. How to make such a delicious food? Click “Read the Rest”.

Lasagna

Hmm, supper.

So, after some thinking about what I want this blog to be, I thought I will share some cooking with you as well. I think I am not doing as nearly as much cooking as I do baking, or maybe it just seems to me like that. Thus I thought this would be a mere baking blog. But, I do some nice cooking as well, my husband at least has not fallen off the chair yet. As a result I will share some of my cooking “recipes”.
